2007 Bluebonnet Patchwork Trial Shop Hop Block Challenge Welcome to the Bluebonnet Patchwork Trail Block Challenge! Each year, we choose a fabric and then challenge quilt ers to create a quilt block using the fabric. The entries are judged by the participating shops, and then displayed during the Shop Hop. Challenge Kits, which include the fabric and an entry form, may be purchased for $2.00 from any of the official Bluebonnet Patchwork Trail Shop Hop Shops. Following the Shop Hop, each shop will complete a quilt incorporating challenge blocks of their choosing. These quilts will be raffled from January 1, 2008 through the close of the 2008 Shop Hop. All of the raffle proceeds will be donated to a local charity. Prizes Grand Prize: Fabulous Fabric Basket with a retail value of over $300 1st Place Prizes: Fat Quarter Bundle with a retail value of over $150 2nd Place Prizes: Fat Quarter Bundle with a retail value of over $100 3rd Place Prizes: Fat Quarter Bundle with a retail value of over $50 Categories There are three categories: Pieced Blocks (hand or machine): 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded Appliqued Blocks (using the applique method of your choice): 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded Combination Blocks (both piecing and applique included within a single block): 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded. Challenge Block Rules 1. A Challenge Kit must be purchased from a Bluebonnet Patchwork Trail Shop. 2. The Challenge Fabric must be used as an integral and recognizable part of the entry. Any additional fabric may be used. 3. The Official Entry Form (available at the participating shops) must be securely fastened to the BACK OF THE QUILT BLOCK. 4. The block MUST MEASURE 12 1/2" SQUARE when submitted, and NOT BE QUILTED, so the block can later be set into a quilt top and quilted by the shops. 5. Judging emphasizes originality, creativity, visual impact and workmanship. Entry Rules 1. Entries must be received by one of the official Bluebonnet Patchwork Trail Shop Hop Shops no later than THURSDAY, MARCH 1, 2007. Late entries will not be accepted. 2. Entries will be judged prior to Shop Hop and a list of winners will be displayed at each shop during the Shop Hop. 3. All entries will be displayed at the official Bluebonnet Patchwork Trail Shop Hop Shops during the Shop Hop, APRIL 13, 14, 15, 2007. 4. All entries become the property of the Bluebonnet Patchwork Trail Shop Hop. 5. Enter as many blocks as you like, however, only one prize will be awarded per person. 6. All decisions of the judges are final. |
